The Deputy speaker Daniel Awet Akot had yet booked his seat in the ban wagon of anti-Collo, Dinka conspiracy by dismissing the SPLM-DC acquitted MPs by the orders of the minister of legal affairs and constitutional development Justice John Luk Jok who is a lawyer by training, pending the opinion of Gier Chuang minister of interior.
This is hot potatoes. Who is the custodian of the law in the south is Justice John Luk or Gen. Gier Chuang? ‘ No man’s opinion is better than his knowledge’ Gier Chuan can understand about guns or killing people, but not about law. What happened to SPLM-DC MPs was a conspiracy by Makuai who is a lawyer who had abused his law knowledge to hasten the arrest and waiving of immunity prematurely. Now that the family of Chief Peter Oyath had said their word that they never filed a case against SPLM-DC, why is Awet Akot adamant to weight for unknown? Yes it was the house that lifted the immunity, but under the instructions of Makuai and not Gier Chuang, since Gier Chuang was lured into the awkward legal position he took by giving audacity to some elements known to all.
Assuming Gier Chuang comes out negative because of the influence of those Collo who never want to see the SPLM-DC in the parliament because of the competition on Kingdom’s representation between the legally elected and those who came through the back door as they put it point blank such as Hon. Henry Omay Akolowin (that they will chase away the SPLM-DC from SSLA) who represents only the paper on which his name was inscribed, the SPLM list and not the Collo people? Or if Gier Chuang never comments at all?, what will be the position of Awet Akot read on the background of defying the minister of legal affairs and constitutional development?
Hon. D/Speaker, the difficulties we are experiencing in the south these days are a result of bad governance accumulated over five years, including Hon. Awet Akot tenure in lakes state which was spectacular for no tangible achievements, occasionally heart breaking when guards gun themselves down in the audience of the governor complete state of anarchy and instead of doing some corrections, the situation seems to be rolling downhill in a fast manner, while the south is running out of time before the D-day. Fighting over the south, hunger creeping in, civilians dislodged from their areas who would have cultivated and curtailed hunger, who would have registered to participated in the referendum.
This is a failed government shattered by corruption, tribal and regional sentiments. The real fear is if the independence should ensue under current situation, Somalization is feared to be the fate of the south. For those fostering controlling and brutalizing people with an iron fist, they, over shoot the mandate and likely to reap thorns. The south should be viewed as for all southern people without marginalization and if there are theoreticians and think tanks in the south, now is the time to pull up and bring together southern might without exclusiveness to face the tasks ahead. In our villages, when a lion comes, all the people headed by the chief come forward to face the beast. For those who believe they are so smart through shallow politics will face the beast alone, but the destruction is going to be complete. Thus instead of continued marginalization, all the southern institutions should have one objective by engaging the whole people, putting aside the like and dislike attitude of the ruling clique.
