Yesterday the fifth of June marked the first one year since the launching of the party on the 6th June 2009. The occasion was well attended by many people from different walks of life and politically oriented public that came to testify that SPLM-DC was not born dead as described by the SG of SPLM Pagan Amum the second day of after the launching i.e. on 7th June 2009.

SPLM-DC turned out to be the most formidable political organization ever feared by Pagan Amum in particular and SPLM-old style in the Sudan. Only one year it had filtered into the hearts and minds of the people of Sudan as the manifesto is very clear and vivid and salvaging in essence. The party participated in elections in 20 states of the Sudan which qualifies it as the second largest and responsible in the country.

The orders issued by GOSS banning SPLM-DC activities in the south that was over ruled by the constitutional court, blew in the face of the non democratic SPLM-old. As the time slowly rolled towards elections, it became clear beyond reasonable doubt for the SG and his party that what he pre-maturely denounced as dead was a formidable mass revolution in the Sudan and south particularly and it would be very hurtful to stand in the way of this strong current. This made the SG of SPLM to give up the idea of contesting in the womb. He read proper, for he would have been failed with no difficulty.

The formidable SPLM-DC that was born with teeth can not be tempered with by unpopular politicians who decided to go against the elections regulations in an insurmountable rigging campaign involving SPLA,GOSS and State ministers and hand picked NEC members in the areas controlled by the SPLM. The south which was known for elections fairness since 1980s, had been reduced to a primitive stone age by those craving for positions they have never performed well to maintain. The split of SPLM by the revolt of 347 independents SPLM candidates stand as the witness to un popularity of the man from a dead party.

The south is now simmering like a stove with water about to boil. Unfortunately the weakness of the SPLM-party seems to engulf the army, as high ranking offi cers with insight and worries about what the future of the south would be. Now many officers are beginning to side with the marginalized poor starving, sick people of the south who had not tasted the dividends of peace. Dr. Thau wrote in his column in KM some few days back that if there is any single thing people will not dare to differ over the performance of Salva Kiir, is that he united the people of the south. I partly agree with this young doctor who is very objective in his writings as well as discussions.

Salva at the start was a man of the people. Even the people who crossed from other parties were doing so to strengthen him against the super hawks of the new Sudan. We smelled wisdom in Salva by uniting and incorporating other arm forces into the SPLA. Please I beg to disagree with you now as SALVA threw away glory of the mandate entrusted him by the people of the south and spat on all the reasonable people who would have helped him and became a full blown tribal leader loving and liking only his tribe which made him fell out with the people.

As time went by , he became a totalitarian ruler being geared by a minor clique in Juba, till he had to mercilessly rig the elections to remain in power. But every time he tries a solution, the time had already elapsed and he touches in the process the wrong button. His weakness are known by the whole nation except himself. That is, He is keeping the wrong people close to him. His only salvation would be to take courage and resign the office, because no much he can afford to save the south from wreckage.
