“Too many Cooks spoil the broth” is the idiom that depicts the impracticality of many decisions on one issue, or still “ more than one captain will capsize the ship”. This is exactly what is wrong with the SPLM ship. Withdrawal of SPLM presidential candidate Mr. Yassir Saeed Arman surfaced the submerged un surmountable hurdles in the shaky conglomeration of paradoxical ideological contentions in the SPLM pavilion.
Many politically oriented and analysts had predicted long before now that the SPLM ship is heading straight into an ice block under the political waters that will shatter it into pieces like the gigantic Titanic. But while it is heading there, it got hit with a torpedo that shall hasten its sinking into the deep cool and dark waters of politics. Since the death of Dr.John Garang deMabior, much water had passed under the bridge regarding the health and well being of the SPLM.
Many people had been marginalized and forced to quit the organization either out of discontentment and furry over handling of issues or direct marginalization by the so call “orphans of Garang”. These are those who regarded themselves as legal hires of the throne of Garang. These had steered the ship against the political aspirations of the marginalized, lending the organization entangled in an interwoven leadership incapability and crisis which became known to all in the country. This resulted in political anarchy which turned some ministers into political hooligans demonstrating against their own government. (look at this!!) the first time in the world for a senior minister as high as minister of council of ministers to call his government a failed one without prior resignation. If any thing he can easily be branded being psychiatric case otherwise, a political clown.
Five years had barely passed without a daily bomb blast from the SPLM on SPLM or NCP. Until every one got convinced that the junior partner had developed NCP phobia or suffering megalomania. As the time passed by, the SPLM was losing credibility and distancing from the masses, rational thinking, democratic transformation, but more seriously as an ideological and revolutionary fake. Yassir himself said that SPLM died with Garang. E lections became the worst SPLM nightmare because, that is the judgment day for any government to be asked about what has been achieved for the people of the margin upon which the ideology is hinged.5 years had gone by and very fast while SPLM only enjoying the fruits of CPA, the people have not failed to point out the lack of peace dividends, not even the security which tops the reasons for CPA. Many IDPs have come back to the north for lack of security, tribal fighting, corruption which is practiced with impunity in the south.
The failed May 2008 window-shopping 2nd convention had revealed the underneath volcano in the party. Because of lack of political will, SPLM continued business as usual without seriously addressing core issues, thus the diseases of inconsistency, incompetence, ideological gambit were eating up the party from inside.
When Salva was nominated to lead SPLM in the challenge for presidency contest, in state sacrificed Yassir at the alter, he was zealous to redeem the lot. When the time had come to make Yassir politically destitute, they pulled reigns, through the Salva’s hand picked political bureau, Pandora’s box had been opened on the SPLM. To why the quorum had not been attained to reinstate the northern sector like an animal brought to the river to drink water, but refuses, leaves a lot to desire.
Salva who has a lot to worry about had ordered the SPLM northern sector to end the industrial action, D/chairmen Dr.Riak and Malik Agar coaxed the northern sector to comeback save Yassir. The SG accused by SALVA, of overdoing the mandate had released a torpedo on the already sinking ship which has a lot of fenestrations all over hulk made through bad management, intolerance, superficiality, disowning SPLM independents, lack of thinkers, had made SPLM more vulnerable than any time in the past to complete disintegration. Like a company every share holder is going to claim their share as the company goes bankrupt. There is going to be SPLM-DC, SPLM-Yassir,SPLM-Pagan, SPLM- Riak, the remnant shall be SPLM- Mayardit which shall be to a clan or tribal and it is going to be stable, because no more marginalization, one language, one religion and one every thing Lord save our souls.
