The Failure of SPLM-DC Convention- Part II

Quote: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said: "In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends."

As optimistic as I am, I have high hopes that there will come a time when South Sudanese people will get fed up with some of their double agent sons and simply walk away from the "Jallaba Southern golden boys"; once and for all.

When I think of National Islamic Front's atrocities and genocidal activities in South Sudan, Darfur, the Nuba Mountains, and the Ingasna Hills, I feel terribly saddened and regretful for people like Dr. Lam Akol Ajawin, Mr. Ali Tamim Fartak and Mr. Riek Gai Kok: How heartless can they possibly be to be in alliance with an extremist Islamic terrorist organization with so much blood in its hands? And why would they turn their backs to our mothers and fathers, who continue to suffer their losses on a daily bases? And don't they know that time alone doesn't heal those wounds?

In my first article, about the miserable failure of the so-called SPLM-DC Khartoum's convention, I have mentioned that there were a host of reasons that led to the disastrous breakdown of one of the richest conventions.

But there was one thing that stood out to just about all those who took the time to follow the convention closely. It was the lavish expenditure and the breath-taking style in which the convention was played out and produced, which was indicative to everyone that some serious amounts of money must have been used, by a party that has just been founded. Now, if that doesn't raise eyebrows, then, I do not know what else would.

Moreover, the unprecedented presence of the NIF/NCP high profiled elements, including their Southern sell-outs (mentioned above), and the heavy representation of some Arab states, notoriously known for their uncontrollable and compulsive hatred particularly for the South Sudanese people, and all the black people in general, confirmed what South Sudanese all along have been ambivalent and wary about-- because SPLM-DC is in fact a carbon copy of NCP/INF organizations.

And yes, it was self evident that as many as 80% of the participants were from those odious adversaries. The 20 percent remainder came from some flunkies lunatics from South Sudan, and the army of INF media and security personnel.

The genuine question is: was there anything beneficiary to South Sudan out of the convention? The answer is quite merely no. What we saw was cowardice, unfaithfulness and self-indulgence; which brings us to the speech of Dr. Lam Akol Ajawin, the Chairman of the SPLM-DC.

Flanked by the foes of the SPLM from North Sudan and Arab states, Dr. Akol dedicated 99 percent of his speech to vehemently and passionately lash out on his former party the SPLM. He angrily attacked the 1st Vice President Salva Kiir Mayardit, Secretary General Pagan Amum and his deputy Yasir Arman in person. He bluntly put it, "The SPLM leadership is corrupt and we will expose their secrets to the world," he said.

Ironically, nowhere in his lengthy speech, not one time, that Dr. Lam mentioned the NIF/NCP's violations of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA). Indeed, that was particularly disturbing while the whole world knows that the NCP is diligently asserting all its efforts to impede the CPA, which Dr. Lam purportedly claims he defected to protect.

In addition, Dr. Lam Akol simultaneous visits to Syria widely open the door for a whole host of speculations, interpretations, and more questions than answers. Already, some experienced Southern politicians are saying that if in fact Dr. Lam defection from the SPLM was due to lack of democracy and transparency, then the most logical thing for him to do should have been to visit democratic countries, not a brutal totalitarian Syria, which harbors the most dangerous terrorist organizations such as: Hezbollah, Hamas, and al Qaida.

However, others dismissed the idea that he might be soliciting financial support from the Ba'ath government for his party, simply because Syria is not short of economic problems of its own, to be in a position to support Dr. Lam's party.

But then, why is he so fond of visiting Syria with only a month since his first visit, and right after the convention of his party, in which he announced to the world that his party is a national one seeking to reserve the unity of Sudan? And what can he possibly emulate from one of the worst regimes in modern history?

These are legitimate questions. We are waiting for answers.

In conclusion, the SPLM must not be unmindful of the fact that Dr. Lam Akol is so desperate for power to the point that he won't hesitate to cause some great harm on the South, if it serves his egocentric interests. Therefore, we shouldn't be naïve not to believe that weapons and terrorist experts from Syria and Iran might be well on the way for a "Jihad" war in South Sudan soil.

Quite honestly, I forewarned our leaders that "protection's better than cure".

I think Luk Kuth Dak is so naive enough, though he portrait him as a public policy matters concern. SPLM-DC is not the ruling party of the current government of South Sudan. SPLM-DC party is like any party in Sudan. Dr. Lam Akol is Chairman of SPLM-DC like other parties chairmen in South such as Bona Malawal, George Kongor, etc. Dr. Lam is not Chief Executive of South Sudan.

Convention of party’s world wide is made to articulate policy of any given party to the public. The only way public evaluate a party is when the party is in power, which is not relevant in the case of SPLM-DC. I don't know what Luk is talking about here about people of South Sudan as if Dr. Lam is president of South Sudan. Did he lost hope in Salva and want Dr. Lam to do Salva Job?

Dr. Lam Akol is not president of South Sudan. Why you don't ask your president Kiir about the people of South Sudan? Where in the World a party that is not even in power is hold accountable for failure of government in power. Please before you write any piece of paper about politics, you should know first how government works? If you’re seeking position from Kiir as alot of Southerners do, be advised to seek it your way and not through Dr. Lam name. Where in political science text books, or in any public policy institutions people leave executive and attack party out of power? If not what I'm seeing in your on going personal attack against icon of salvation of South Sudan people.

If you are a journalist as you say, you should have reported or covered what took place covered in conference. Journalism and media have ethnics and I wonder if you’re aware of media ethics. I advise you to take US government class since you live in USA,and wait for Dr. Lam to be President of South Sudan, then you, me , and others will be entitle to critized him and his government. If you don’t wait then the right person to critize now is Salva Kiir your President. That is the norms of politics world wide unless you have a hidden agenda against Dr. Lam.

    Thanks,

I did not like to answer Luk Kuth Dak's article, but I'm compile to
answer his single sentence of his article that,
Therefore, we shouldn't be naïve not to believe that weapons and terrorist experts from Syria and Iran might be well on the way for a "Jihad" war in South Sudan soil.
LUK KUTH DAK, answer the following questions, but I will help you in answering them because your culture twists your honesty to any reality.

First, where has Dr. John Garang got his weapons from the begining of his rebellion? The answer is from Khartoum and from Arab countries.
Secondly, were Dr. Garang weapons use against the Southerners? Yes, with those weapons, Dr. John Garang had killed the separartists or leaders of Anya-Anya Two and he turned them against Nuer after SPLM/A 1991 defection and now Salva Kiir uses those weapons against non-Dinka tribe to imposed Dinka legitimate rule over South.
Third, where did the weapons of Paulino Matip come from and were they use against the Southerner will? The weapons come from Khartoum and by those weapons, Paulino Matip had helped Khartoum regime to refine the Southern oil. So becuase of oil money, northern army got strong and even Khartoum is building neclur power currently plus many infrastructures. Moreover, those weapons have force Dr. Garang to incorporate Paulino Matip and his soldiers into SPLA that brought militay equation between Nuer and Dinka.

Fouth, has Shulluk seek for bloody weapons during and after war period? No, Shulluk during Arab and Turkish penetration into Sudan did not seek for weapons that kill fellow man and woman, but our guns were and are sacred weapons to defend and protect. Shulluk had lost hundred thousands of men and women to preserve the entire Sudan unity, but after fronteir were lost to enemies, Shulluk remains focusing to defend and protect South.
Let me assure you Luk Kuth Dak that Shulluk has been enduring hardship, distruction, extermination, unemployment and eudcation for years since Arab penetration into Sudan in 13 century in order to surrender its identity. But we have survive such such erosions.
Therefore, you should not be worry that we might obtain weapons from Syria because tribal killing imposed by SPLM/A in South is not real threat that former forces that changed many identities of other nations.

But refusing weapons does not means Shulluk might not do something to deter your barbaric attitude. We can do what we can to civilize you as we did to northerners to accept compromise and bargain with Southerners.

  • William Okuch

    Correction:
I mean that Shulluk stands all grievances in order to retain African identity. So retain replaces word 'surrender'.

The article is confusing and not focused on the title. The Dr the writer holds before his name is not compatible with his writing, for I expected such a person to be critical and convincing, not hurling unjustified insults and accusations he may not be able to prove.
When intellectual talk they say sense .....! People don't write simply just because their instinct tell them to do so, but because of what their brains produce, I think our brother was driven by his instints and not intellect. Very shameful for this Dr. Luk

The vulgar article of Luk Kuoth Dak, is just reflective of himself as a run away prison warders officer who never seems to have benefited from self-selected exile. As a soldier who seems to care very much about the south, he should have ran to the bush to fight his hated northerners instead of choosing the soft comfort of the developed countries. even the quoted Dr. Martin Luther king should have been that let our hatred for our northern bothers not blind us, for some are with here as their destiny is part of our destiny. Little minds discuss personal issues, while big minds discuss big issue. You can easily tell what kind of a person Luk Kuth is. Never the less change is inevitable when its time arrives. Luk kuth persists to be a primative and un cultured native of the wilds of south Sudan defying all the tools of refinement out there when America had come out for a change not thought possible in his life time. "because of the long lines around schools and churches, because of what you did this time, change has come to America" This what Obama had to say In Chicago. When a people's movement starts, money never stands in its way. Obama never used the government grand for election because he didn't need it. People paid for it. The lavish delegates conference envied by the fugitive officer Luk kuth Dak was the making of the people of Sudan. Where does the SPLM(old fashon) gets the money for it conferences including gathering the opposition parties these days in Juba? it is the salaries and development budget of the poor southern citizen you are shading the crocodile on, when they are butchered, by the ruling party in the south and the LRA. What south are you taking about when the Doctors who left every thing behind came to work for people in the south, but to be mercilessly beaten by the police in JTH for demanding their dues. Luk Kuth why don't you come and see things for you self instead of resisting change. But after all each and every one has the freedom of association according to the constitution of the Sudan or you are not aware of this too?
