July 9, 2009 U.S. Special Envoy to Sudan Scott Gration will travel to Norway and to Sudan, including Khartoum, Darfur, Abyei and Juba, from July 9 to July 24, 2009.
Special Envoy Gration will travel to Oslo to meet senior Norwegian government officials, including Foreign Minister Stoere. The Special Envoy will also meet with members of the Sudan Troika (Norway, the United Kingdom and the United States) to address issues related to Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) implementation as part of his continued outreach to key partners on Sudan.
Special Envoy Gration will then travel to Sudan, where he will make stops in Darfur to assess the latest conditions for internally displaced persons and for humanitarian workers; in Abyei for the announcement of the decision by the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague; in Juba to participate in bilateral discussions with the Government of South Sudan; and in Khartoum to continue trilateral meetings between the two CPA parties as follow-up to the discussions begun in Washington in June 2009.
