Dozens of South Sudanese refugees protested outside Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's house in Jerusalem on Sunday, in response to a recent state decision to deport them to South Sudan if they did not leave the country by April 1, 2012.
In the same decision, the state also denied the refugees protected group status. The refugees said that the decision to deport them to South Sudan was effectively a death sentence.
The Jerusalem court for administrative matters issued an order staying the refugees deportation for two weeks. Approximately 700 refugees are scheduled to be deported, most of them children.
The Foreign Ministry has said that the decision to deport the refugees will probably be postponed for at least another six months.
