Luo Conference Invitation

Dear Luos,

As we have planned during our Luo preparatory meeting we held on March 29 this year, we would like to extend our invitation this time to all Luos in the Diaspora which includes every Luo in U.S.A., Canada, European countries, Australia, or back home such as Sudan, Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Zaire (DRC).

This will be the first ever greater Luo conference we had in the history of our gigantic tribe.  Based on the preparatory meeting we held on March 29, 2008 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the participants of that meeting have drafted an interim-body, known as Luo’s Reunification Organization, the LRO and appointed its temporary central committee team to be in charge in leading the conference we are calling.  This conference has been scheduled to be held again in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on August 9, 2008.

As Luo young organizers, there are major challenges we face and concern about in dealing to organize this Luo community.  These challenges are lack of Luo elders who are experts and committed to this process.  Also we want to remind each and everyone about this Luo organization.  It is an organization that just comes into an existence with still very few members and supporters.  We still facing few challenges; including financial and communication difficulties that are some reasons it would be impossible for us to invite some very important influential members from 6 African countries that have Luos as citizens, especially at least one influential member from each 15 member-ethnic group.  After the conference, LRO recommends each Luo ethnic group to perform its traditional dance.  We request all 15 groups to organize their people and come well prepared to the conference.  The LRO 15 member- ethnic groups we referring are followed alphabetically and are:

1. Alur

2. Anyuak

3.  Acholi

4.  Balanda Boore

5.  Brunt “Broun”

6.  Chollo

7.  Joluo of Kenya

8.  Jopodhola

9.  Kumam

10. Lango

11. Luo of Bahr-el-ghazal

12. Maban

13. Pari “Lokoro"

14. Thuri

15. Zumzum

As members of recently formed Luo in General community, we are looking forward to hearing from you soon and hoping you have the opportunity to consider this invitation.  We hope every Luo receives this message and gets a chance to attend this First Annual Greater Luo Conference.  Your participation is appreciated and is more than welcome.  If you have a question or comment, please feel free to so response.  Thank in advanced for your time and consideration.

Long live the greater LOU ethnic group in Africa.
my concern is the core theme of the upcoming conference, it seems to focus on the traditional dances rqather than to have some sort of professional seminars, workshops and rahllies to prcisely tacle the LOU issues and to let us know more about our greater LOU. BY doing this, you will see lots of LOU elders providing tanyable topics and contributions to the conference.
    God bless.

Let me begin by thanking the orgonazing commitee for the courage and determination.
It is a time now to come up with the new begining.
the great Luos tribe as is known, is notjust only
    a triebe,but could
    have been a greater empire.

AS far as Luos unificartion concern I would like to asure you that thit is not the first time for such ideas, but this organization is the first ever since its involve LUOS from diference countries.
it should be taken more seriously as Abaraham Otto indicated.
let not leave it loosly. The out come will depends on how far we will go during that conference.
we should consider all directions;in order to be successful.
Those who will hear the outcome will support you with thier mighty. As a member of LOUS I personally support the unification and i am proud to be LUOS.
I had been in all those countries where LOUS are now living today, so it would not be a surprise to me.
    My God bless you all.

What a great idea? Lou unifications is something inspirational. The effort to unite Lou in those broken groups is an enormous challenge. What kind of tool will we use to make this mission successfully special where we are living geographically divided? Every Lou must think intelligently. Lous are not just lou. They are critical people. Accordig to history in the past, our forefather slidely disagreed over the small matter, hence burst in division largely affecting Lou today around the world. I believe that it is not too late. It can be fix now. There are great Lou intellectuals presses for unification. In 1997 If I can rememeber, this issue was brought up by East Africa Luo intellectuals, the idea to make Lou dominance figure, but in the process Lou enemy got in between and the idea for Lou unification disappreated in the air. Today I thanks people who still pressing on the issue. Brothers and Sisters, believe it. Lou uinification will finally prevail.

This time the process is diferent. We are not doing this for propaganda, it's real and gona happen.
What we nedd is every LOU efforts male or female.
No more observers, all are considered envolved with what ever they can afford to provide, whether word, energy, resouces etc.We have enough human capital is vision and courage to stand up and do what is right for us, rather than always working to serve other " unqualified" as their subbordinates.

What a formation strategics predominant combination of Luo's speaking peoples ...
I'm very happy to heared that Luos groups is making collusion as an organisation with objectvies giving back theirs origins.

Bravo Mr. Lwango Awang Padiet to have such collusion. Forsure this is very moment to be togathers at this crazy world of interests. Elucidate Luos the past and understanding the relationship between culture, social organization and identity today is prominents to say

I value and consider the greater cohesion of the paramount Luo society. Speaking of role-modolity; this should not hinder what yor positvive initiative are. It is not an issue to be balmed on elders ability to coach, or represent. But it will be seen as results and the outcomes are vivid to the extend that elders will be impress and willingly contribute on what you've started.
Let the young generations who feel the courage to do what would reflect the Luo tradition as the attention has already covered quite a huge spectrum.
Keep it moving and you will hear the respond.
    keep up with good work,
    Cheers
    All the best!

Luo unity is vital to the political development of all Luo tribes. We must support each other and create a Greater Luo community. We must support our brothers and sisters in North Uganda and free them politically from the oppression they are facing.

the Luo conference is a greater idea, i am actually hearing it from the first time ever, Luos are a great people,

i have only seen you talk about traditional dancers, why not invite Luo gospel artist to come and perform at the conference like my wife is a great luo gospel singer here in kenya, if you can invite different kinds of musicians it will make it even more colourful.

    God bless the Luo community.

Does Luo unity include supporting Joseph Kony?
