It is positively conformed that the diplomat, Dr. James Okuk, PhD, was mysteriously and forcefully arrested by some ruffian non-uniformed police security personnel and then incarcerated in some private home without any legal warrant of arrest or any semblance of legality.
Dr. Okuk could have secretly been killed and his body disposed unbeknownst into the Nile. His alleged crime: Exercising his freedom of free speech. IS THE NATION SLIDING TO THE LEVEL OF LAWLESSNESS?

This is not strange news for those who know the political environment in our nascent country. And we should not forget that the leadership in the republic of South Sudan has been pressured by the international community to improve human rights standards and to provide a significant support for the promotion of democratic institutions.
A brilliant and well-educated young man like Dr. Okuk is only an asset to a country where government encourages people to participate in the democratic institutions, Where government practices key democratic principles such as; responsible government, the separation of legislative, executive and judicial powers, the observance of constitutional safeguards, the rule of law and respected opposition party and a free media.Unfortunately, his constant contribution and support in developing the political system with his knowledge through his writings become as “...seed that fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plant...” May God almighty help you in the situation you are in.

I think is better to create conducive environment for political activities in our new country rather than make it unaffordable situation.
I hope he is safe somewhere and be released soon.

Really it is a bad news, by this acts South Sudan is telling and proofing their dictatorship and one party system, which we don’t need it at this moment.
Dr. Okuk was telling the truth in his writings therefore they targeted him, especially those who are very corrupted in Juba. Dear Dr. Okuk your pen will be like a candle in the dark and their heart, so one day they may see the truth, because they have eyes but they don’t.
May God bless you and be with you.Chol Kudit

what happened to Dr Okuk is not the way of arrest, it is kidnap, there is no arrest by pointing a gun at somebody, unless he has gun. Also he is diplomatic the must be some respect.the government must follow the rule of lam, when it com in term of arrest somebody for whatever reason, without People there will be no government. the government should draw a line in way to comply with rule.Southern Sudan is a new country which need more collaboration to work together to develop our country bring peace and love to it. we don't want our leaders to be embrace in the court later or soon.U.S.A.is not sleeping, eyes on you new country to now what kind of rule are you following. Dictatorship or Democratic, you can chose what you want and know the Utilitarian. I wish Dr Okuk be safe, and back with peace and reconciliation.

Dr. Okuk should have learned or follow the path, of how his BOSSES in SPLM-DC like Dr. Lam Akol and Hon. Adigo talk to the leading party SPLM; let him stop abusing powerful leaders of this Nation South Sudan. the way he expressed his opinions is not the way forward, how come for you as a citizen of a particular country to abuse or used bad language against your president, it can show some inner secrets of personal interest. stop insulting your president and tell facts in a diplomatist Language if you are really and intellectual PHD holder.

What happened to Dr Okuk is not acceptable and he should be release like people who were arrested with him they were released.
Do there is any separate the case against him alone or kind of giving him a warning not to be activist or challenge the leadership of Country.Any leader will not be criticize will not be a strong leader.

Mr. Maker Bona
Really you don’t know what you are talking about, even you don’t know who accused Dr. Okuk to unorganized forces calling themselves (something +security) who arrested arrest him and his colleague, do you think the president himself is the one who accused him? Do you know that Mr. President rejected the accusation, why? Because he knows that Dr. Okuk didn’t use a bad language against him, and you can find out by yourself if you read all the articles that Dr. Okuk posted in net and news papers this is what we called freedom of expression, and known in the world.
What is still going on now in the new born country is not acceptable and is an evil and criminal work, the security authorities must to stop this kind of work, it must be there the government and law to protect human right, otherwise we can’t move forward. We know that what happened to Dr. Okuk and his colleague is coming from some few leaders and officers for their individual interests that’s the true.
You Mr. Maker you can’t build the democracy country, without freedom, law, justice and human right, your opinions are going in one way with the same work , believe or don’t this kind of work will not keep this country move forward.
Stay well and keep it forward.
Regards
Fascola Abdallah

It is not democratic or even ethical to arrest someone for expressing his opinion. Dr. Okuk and other South Sudanese individuals/groups are entitled to speak their mind out without being harassed or intimidated by our government in Juba. We should not entertain or endorse such actions in our new country. Very sad indeed!

All I may know is this: If all (accused & arrested) is either found hurted or killed or never released at all - I mean all, I may know that South Sudan will have to swim in his own oil (not money) & suck up some sews whiling living in pain for life after the planned & engineered measured has been executed accurately & taken place as timed!!! Sorry guys, it seems like a joke, but it has to be as wanted since SPLA/M & the GoSS along with its supportives as playing with innocents! There are many innocents who have been yearning to live in peace after July 9, 2011 but GoSS & the SPLA/M & what is now known as "South Sudan Arm Force (the SPLA) as making messes that should never happened in the history of South Sudan. So, I think it is alright to shut the door on South Sudan & its GoSS' SPLA/M & leave a room for those who want to practice their peace, rights, & freedoms. You people of South Sudan seem to be really a cursed people & the solution could be only if your who still dream of power by arraussing, abusing, killing, arressing, & torturing the peace lovers could just be eliminated or lessened or let to lose for good

Mr Kir can be called any name by sudanes. south sudnes people did vote for Mr Kir, and therefore he can go to hell. people of south sudan need to elect their leader, and criticis him that is what call leadership.
Mr Okuk arest is discrimintory action by South Sudan goernment, and they need to know the world is watching them.
Mr Kir should have been the example of a new nation, so that once is gone like Garank people would remember him and give him respect.
A government that reject critism is not a government thise message is for Mr Kir and his cabintes. if they did not learn today from there mistake, they pay back just like Momar AL Kadaffi of Lebyia and will be shame. we had enough with Arab not any more silly leaders in south sudan.

Dear beloved brother & the author of this message,
I would gladly patroit myself as one of Okuk, James' supporters. Every since his first article (appeared on the Pachodo's website), I have been closely watching his writing & his (Dr. Okuk)'s works have appeared to be much alike or like a leader to head our younger generation into the right path of genuine democracy in the history of South Sudan. I have been thanking him (Okuk) for his works (especially his writing). This has touched us all; it is pain & if him (Okuk) appears to be murdered by the those said or unkowned police officers, then Juba & its citizens must pay the huge prize, & whoever is a suspects (though seem to be denying the facts), must pay the huge price too. Dr. Okuk have never killed or hurt any one & he (Dr. Okuk) has betrayed any one too. He (Okuk) is innocent & his abusers must be shown pain too.
Secondly, dear readers, friends, alliances, & family of Dr. Okuk, you do not need an order or a promise to act according to what is justically right. If him (Okuk) found dead or half-dead with pain, or never find at all, you need to shown Juba some air strike & let its (juba) people feel pain as the family of Okuk are feeling the absent or pain of their son. I can't wait to see Juba in pain, real pain, REAL PAIN.
