‘Dr.’ Salva Kiir VS. Dr. Lam Akol

By: James Okuk*

Last year when the SPLM started the preparations for its 2nd Convention, I wrote a challenging article that the internal democratic transformation is going to be a hard test for this novice party.

I understood that despite media vocality on "New Sudan on a New Basis" by its mediocre acolytes the reality remains; their incapacity and unwillingness to bridge the gap between the rhetoric and action while they claim political polymathy.

After the Convention, my projection became true as the occasion turned out to be a scam with upside down mockery to democracy; leaders choosing their own voters without a clear party programme. There, the real leadership crisis within the SPLM organs started to surface because nobody was sure amongst the contenders (Salva Kiir, Riek Machar and Nhial Deng) that democracy will choose him as a trusted friend. Because of this dubious feature, Mr. Salva Kiir got the second best SPLM leadership luck in his life time as he was given another chance for a benefit of doubt to prove himself trustworthy in the name of Unity of the historic Movement Party. However, this unity compromised the worsening SPLM leadership status quo in the South and unjustifiable abstaining of its Chairman from the North.

But without surprise and not longer than later, the re-crowned SPLM King forgot that there are still flies of corruption, tribalism, insecurity and incompetence on his Cheeks, and this could become suitable occasions for slapping him at ripen time; the elections period for leadership verdict.

Hitherto, and with the announcement of Dr. Lam Akol as the leader of the newly formed SPLM-DC Party, the SPLM King feels being slapped on the Cheeks and finding it hard to swallow the bitter fills for relieving the pain. He ran to President Al Bashir to block the new party from registering in National Political Parties Council but the NCP BoSS tells him that he is very sorry to intervene and muddle on other party's affairs and so the King is free to pursue his dictatorial request where the mandate is located; the Chairman of Political Parties Council who says: I respect equal opportunity for competition as long as competitors are ready and qualified for the race.

Now, the SPLM King has been shown that it is time to compete on people's confidence at the grassroots level and nobody (including Al-Bashir) can say he is the people until he is told so in the results of the 2010 ballots. Where will Salva Kiir get the guts then to tell Dr. Lam Akol to stay in his house after he has declared to the whole world that he is no longer an SPLM member? Has the time come for Kiir to wake up from his slumbers and blunders and start losing weight for a serious work of mobilizing SPLM capacities for winning the coming elections like what Al-Bashir has been doing now?

I think ‘Dr.' Salva Kiir has got it into his nerves now that Dr. Lam does not joke around because he is a serious politician who knows what he is doing and where he is leading to. Kiir is going to remember what late Dr. John Garang said in colloquial Arabic: Jabatna entaht wa ma gadrin nagot tehet achan 1991 SPLM/A Split. If the competent Dr. Garang could not sit down and sleep when Dr. Lam and Dr. Riek branched from the movement, how will it be for Kiir when Dr. Lam tells him seriously that enough is enough and he must go home for the South and the CPA to be rescued from governance collapse? Will Kiir step down peacefully and leave the South to start enjoying peace dividends or will he choose confrontation with his competitors? Has he understood that Al Bashir will support Dr. Lam because this savvy politician has unwaveringly supported Al Bashir against the ICC indictment? If you have not gone to academic or empirical school of politics, this cooperation is called give and take from tete-a-tete and it has its good feedbacks.

Congratulations to Dr. Lam and his other comrades for taking the necessary courage to form a new party for democratic change. Surely, the disappointed people from Kiir's SPLM leadership will be looking forward with a good hope for this new party to come up forcefully as a tsunami for competing over doing realistic good things rather than repeated bad situations in the country.

I wish this new party a good health, good luck and long life with the mass support of the discontented people from overdue bad governance and leadership in the Sudan, especially Southern Sudan where the need for development and security is high. Forward ever, backward never!

congratulation to Dr. Lam, for the new party however, I believe that the senseless people does not believes in making friendship with any one even if you are trying to be very nice with them it will not make them to stopping on doing stupid ideas and evil around their neighbours. Salva Kiir, unwise man and corrupt. And please never hope for something better under Kiir leadership. I simply, can not be led by corrupt leader who does not care how his citizens are suffering with no security and Schools, Hospitals, and clean water, roads and so on.

Bravo; Dr. Lam Akol. This is absolutely right to come up with brilliant initiative. Who will accepted to be monopolies by SPLM party just watches and see to the SPLM-DC Party is VISION and OBJECTIVES.
We should not think vacuum for the emerged of SPLM-DC party. Checks your seat where you are, how many legs does it hold?. The matter is not how you can sit on it but, how does it hold you comfortable.
If you have not realized the dust and flooding watch out. The case is not to sees and swims but, how to be safe on the other sides of the bank.

Chollos We Need CHANGES and what is so special for SPLM party to rule with out change?

If we are ademocratic nation, the formation of new party is not a problem. multi-part system is like a mirror that reflect the weakness of the rulling party; otherwise, we are not a democratic state. If SPLM is seening it that is not the right time for formation of parties, then, they should not have suspended some of it members from party too untill 2011.

Open comment ;To whom it may concern in SPLM leadership

The formation of the SPLM-DC came as an automatic concrescences of SPLM leader lack of priority setting, confusion , misleading and continues fail in political process ,by no vision and selfish leaders ,who are very mach concern after personal differences fight and coining only to improve their won statues regardless of the interests of the southern Sudanese people, SPLM was able to contain this misunderstanding internally as they were able to observed mindless arm leaders (with mentioning manes ) , Dr. Lam is not just a leader like other but a political figure in Africa like it or not , it would have been batter to allow him chairing his idlers within what institution rather then marginalizing an blocking him ( which is against SPLM Main Aims democratic ,freedom of expiration and anti marginalization),
Lastly and not the list if Mr. Pagan and his group continues on their ideology of blocking and neglectin...

Thank God that Southerners at the end got a courageous person who could say enough to the chaotic rule of Kiir and his corrupt group. They stupidly accuse Dr.Lam that he is dividing the South ,when they are looting our resources and encouraging tribal fights. The past four years is a lost period from the history of our nation that period was enough for connection of South Sudan with roads and Agricultural schemes could have been established for food security addition to other social services .We are fade up of their lie if you differ with them they quickly accuse you of being a tribalist or a traitor for Gods sack who is the enemy of the South ,there are those who think that south should be built economically ,politically and socially versus those who loot the South and buy houses in Kenya , Uganda and other parts of the world unknowing that with proper use of resources we could be better than any of these countries.Kiir could have shaped the South and plant the spirit of Nationalism...

Dear brothers and sisters I am not trying to judge anyone, but I felt something very important to me and I think you too. If we knew how Joseph son of Jacob has passed all temptations in his life and safe all people, and also if we knew how king Solomon rule his people, how he knew his needs (Genesis 37:23-25;39:1-23; 40:1-23; 41:1-57 and 1 kings 3:3-28)then everything will complete and we will live in peace. So, if I want to the right way I have these examples to light my way and I think you too. Finally, I ask everyone who read this to forgive me if I made a wrong against him because I can be wrong and can be right. So, please I don't know a lot, but I am trying to learn every day as I can.
    Thanks
    God bless you all.Amen.

Responding to the article, I am agreed and congratualate Dr.Lam and his Other and whished good health. Though, the wind allways couldn't favorite to our jounry. I hit saying, " something hapened once upon a time" to be relate to the pass, but rather then the streem couldn't utter again. There might be a reasons for the things why it went in the the ways how it goes, but the best why is to flip the root cases. We all meritted a country where every we should freely stump-feet, with our feet continuing the surfaces of a square leg in an outward flare. To deserve a acountry above which is could be blue and cloudy, rivers that streemy quitely, and the all kinds of cruture to perceive my existence as well as I bowed my respect to thae. A country that the pease and silence prevailed over its conners, but only voice of the fiath could be hear overwhelm. The leadership is our fragility we ever atttemed in terms of trus when the things fly awkward. But dream may allways don't come t...

    Dear all,

We need to have somethings in common, but it appears to me that 'common senses are not very common' here when I read your commends. Can you sit back and make a good judgement instead of just talking about somewhat diplomatic boo-boos. The word 'South','Sudan' is for you the black African community8? Don't speaks as if you don't belong to Sudan.
    Thank you all!
