As far as I have reservation about the results of the 2008 Census, especially in regard to Southern Sudan, I object to Mr. Yaser Arman’s argument that the constituencies of 2010 elections should be drawn according to Voter Registration instead of Census Population Density. My objection is based on the ground that the rule of law should be followed to direct the election conduct rather than political compromises. Election Act that was passed by the SPLM, NCP and all other political parties in the Council of Ministers, the Parliament and the Presidency should be the only legitimate reference for 2010 elections and nothing else. The Voter Registration is not mentioned in that Act as a condition for drawing the electoral constituencies but as a process of identifying who should vote and where should he/she vote for transparency purposes.
