Dear James, I persoannly appreciated the ways you air out your point of view, but the matter is your article always against the wills of our community. If I can summary your words above( Collo discourage whoever write on hot topic and and you are not coward like other.Non-collo people encouraging you to write more and you had accepted to be not polymath). Yes, all Collo, encourage young man like you to speak out logical on the affairs that will help collo community in development, but not destroying. I believe and witness during the war in last 22 years of war in south sudan. All Wad Collo were considered by all others tribes at the brave gentle. Dear Bro. Okuk, since you have sought sincere advice from Collo via this web, I personally recommend you to seek full membership of the NCP. I have been monitoring all your writings and comments and the way you respond to who ever writes, in adverse to your opinion. For instance, your criticism of the SPLM's decision to pull out from the GoNU was hard enough to be believed by many Collo over this web page. Yet that was your opinion and all of us have to fight for you to say that, but I would fing it almost impossible to accept your claim to be a SPLM member.
Thus far, it could be possible that you just found yourself to be a SPLM member without giving that a deep thought and rigorous address. Mr. Mongo Ajak and Musa Kur are typical examles of Collo who decided to join political parties of their choice and no body condemn them for that respect. Instead Collo benefited from them somehow.
Please give my suggestion a shot and you will be fine.

Please don’t get discourage due to a few critics like myself who find it difficult to agree with your views some time but honestly Brother James, there is nothing personal against you. First, your writing possesses a real danger for the unity of Chollo. You also seemed to be incited more disunity among and destruction of Chollo community through your writing. No Ochollo would accept that kind of writing. Second, is your writing on the topics that concerns national issues or political issues in which you seemed to be naïve when you try to analyze the issues without being fair and truthful? So it is very difficult to convince people some time with something that is not true and that is why you are facing critics.
However, I would like to advice you that you should learn to humble yourself and learn to have a mind that’s open to everything and attached to nothing. Believe me or not just continue to write and soon or late you will realize where you came from. Don’t let those who criticize you dragged you down from what you are doing. To be honesty with you, no one can be a good writer if one fear criticism. To me criticism is apart of intellectuals task that cannot escape but go through it and learn from them whether there are good or bad. No, No, please, you are doing a cultural service to our Collo society. It is not said that a writer must please his audience. No, those who criticize you today, will remember you tomorrow for an aspect of your writings. Our ideas are not perfect, as you know better than me, many writers used the "dialectic process or thesis and antithesis" to reach desired results. By the fact that there are people reacting to your articles negatively or positively is enough, otherwise what is the use of writing without stirring public opinion. You are creating discussion and thinking about real hard life issues.
A writer must provoke a feeling in the person who reads his writings, be it joy, sadness, anger, weeping even accusations and worse torture. Being a writer or a thinker is a mission that requires sacrifice and patience. There is a Jewish writer son of the Rabbi of Rome who wrote a book on how the Jews persecuted the Christians sometimes in the middle ages. He was accused, isolated and his book band by the Jews. But he never stopped or withdrew from writing.
I think when you took your pen to write, you were convinced of a message to get through to our people, no matter the echo it makes negative or positive. For me personally your articles provoke a reflection about serious problems that require serious solutions. Secondly, you have a strong capacity to get your ideas through. Thirdly, human beings are free beings, in their ideas and the way they communicate these ideas. Only that, one must face the consequences of his ideas with responsibility and courage. Do you believe the idea that the whole of the Nile water “must” finish in the Mediterranean Sea. It is unrealistic and not true, for Nile has hundreds of small tributaries. The same with human ideas and the position we take on issues in life.
If we want to build a democracy writers must be ready to prepare people to receive even controversial opinions. The saddest thing is that many of us live in democratic nations, but failed to grasp what democracy means. Thus, we continue to live imprisoned by the myth of one rule, one opinion, one system. It is tragic, for that is the easiest way to bring a dictator to rule.
Never withdraw and let anyone who has a contrary opinion write his with all respect. For me this is the dialogue we need to build our future. We must learn to encourage the culture of writing. There is a lot still to be written and we need many young writers.
Lastly, my only advice is to keep to the line of your argument to the end and avoid responding to individual or personal opinions.

The senses many people never understood about you is that either you are reporter or proposal, for one thing you would make community happy, is when you write something productive and true, but for many things you make community confuse or upset, is by saying things that don't make sense. Because many people don't know if you are reporter or not, if you do, you have to put the articles in the way that you are not the person who said it. Our enemy Ajalaba called NCP today has been doing that for years to diminish Southerners forever as they has been kill million and millions of people, dating back in 1880s when Chollo began alamtha war. But who can finish what God has created? In every society whenever someone break away from his very people, he will be seen as wolf. I'm one of readers in this web who you never hear about and since you sincerely admit for advise to Chollo in general, I thought, it is good for me to respond for what you need. I have some few points for you maybe to discover youself where you went wrong in your writing. First, I personally read most of your articles and the way you are writing does not reflect Chollo view and Southerners in gerneral. Your critisim againest SPLM and give credit to notorious regime "NCP" as the only true party is what make Chollo lost confident in you. Becuase you seem to be supporting the devil regime who kill millions of our people and still exploiting our natural resources now. Secondly, in your writing appeared or seem to me that you are putting a gag between Chollo in diaspora and the Chollo at home. you see Chollo in diaspora as people who will never come back home. If this is the hot issue you are talking about then I don't agree with you. Thirdly, if you believe to be good writer in the future, avoid direct attack againest someone who criticize you on your coments. Whoever you think is againest you because of your good work you believe for Chollo. Don't respond sharply, but leave it upto Chollo to judge it. I think, if you follow these three steps, you will be the best.

thanks for puting up this topics to discuss a bout the reaction of your dear brothers and sisters of Chollo. concerning your articles posted in this web site.all advice given here by discussant are based on your correction dude,first of all i want to refer you to a prodigal son in the bible who went away and was welcome back by the parent. now you are welcome back from being denied and criticise by your people due to your nasty postings which were not reflectings chollo behaviour. your postings were against Junubiin objectives and the rest of the marginalize Junubiin in Sudan and as well the democratics group who were fighting with extremist Jalaba state (NCP).
when your fellow chollo replied to you in away that you can correct yourself. reactions from you is always rough by abusying the personalities of people and to the extent of their family as well.most of the readers replying today to you are not frequent writer due to personalties attack. but be advice that politics is all a bout discussing opinions freely.

I do appreciate you as aknowledgable young man and gifted in writing, who can contribute alot to the political transformation of the southerners with your knowledge.However, you have taken the wrong side in some of your writing. you have exalted the NCP in most of your articles and have despised the SPLM. how can you praise the party that pursue the war against the freedom fighters while trying to manipulate Southerners by highlighting tribal divisions. the party that has totally dismantled the Sudanese civil society to reshape it accodring to their radical Islamic ideology. furthermore, the NCP has disbanded or prohibited Political parties throughout the country and has purged all the media, so that to impose only its policy. do you think that the people will encourage you while you are not addressing what they expected. My brother I think when people began to criticize you, is for your goodness. you only need to accept their criticism, and adjust your way if applicable. Thank you for your feedback. Most of them are encouraging, especially the one from Mathew Pagan. All of you are for my continuation but most of you gave conditions if I had to continue writing: 1) that I have to please them and stop criticizing the SPLM; 2) that I have to start condemning the NCP because it is an ever dirty party; 3) that I should not write on politics but on culture, education and development, etc.; 4) that I should not comment harshly on any one who attack me personally; and 5) that I should shut up if I do not go according to those conditions. However, I find most of those conditions contradictory to my principle of writing: "To be loyal to truth and sincerety and vocal about it more than pleasing the readers and fearing their reactions."

I will only put into consideration the advices you gave me that do not contradict my principle because I understand that the truth and sincerety is never comfortable to superficial and untruthworthy individuals. When I write, I do not do it as a SPLM member in contrast to NCP party or any other party or entity; I write as James Okuk and with commitment to my principle. Also I do not risk to write on something I do not have a reliable background on.

Since you have been good enough to advice me sincerely (though I do not accept some of those advice), I would also like to advice you on the following:
1. Please comment on what I write rather than on who I am or where I belong and your comment shall contribute constructively to the concerns I raises. For example, say: Okuk I do not agree with your argument that we sacrifice Abyei to Save the South from war situation because of such and such....
2. Please do not push me to write on what I might not be good at. I like political and philosophical analysis of issues and problems so please encourage me to excel my skills here and not somewhere else which could be done best by any of you who is gifted there. Let us learn to enrich our knowledge with diversified skills rather than monotonous uniformity.
3. Please let us learn how to write down our own ideas and opinions and present them to others on this website rather than posting other people's ideas. Let us not wait to comment only on what is written by others without also writing so that others can comment on ours. Let us develop the culture of writing and arguments about what we see, conceive and think. Let us not be just passive and silent reader. In this manner we shall learn how to analyse, develop and defend our knowledge for better solutions to our challenges.

Dear Professor of philosophy (Mr. James Okuk) what happen? Why all these complains? I don’t see any reason at all for that, or maybe you have missed your seat you set the hot seat or what? Imagine I have been very busy and I couldn’t have time to follow what is happen here.

Well it is not late, let me tell you this want we grew-up in the village we’re face with all manner of challenges but none thought of running away in fact you have to face it for you later to beat your chest as a gentleman. But now you want to run-way to where my brother and who will you leave this (we-taow) website to? Or you think the spoons are becoming less then our numbers? But you know that traditionally we do share the spoons and where you want to go now they don’t eat fish like we do, so well we not be missing you as well as you will be missing fish?
Anyway my advice to you althus our brothers had told you earlier is that home is best so keep it up!!!! Because we want to learn your political and philosophical analysis of issues and problems as you said.
